Easyspace Webhosting Review

Easyspace was one of the few web hosting and domain registration companies in UK back in 1997. Today is one of the biggest web hosting companies in the country and the biggest in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers(ICANN). As the name states, the mission of Easyspace is to simplify the whole process of creating and maintaining an online presence through a website. All their services are customer centered so that it will be easy for users to start a website, easily configure it and talk to the tech support staff and all that in an easy to afford price.

Easyspace is a company that was founded in 1997 in the UK. It started small but has now grown to become one of the best-known webhosting companies in the UK. The company’s website describes it as a ‘pile them high, sell them cheap’ hosting company. It says that great value and reliability are the company’s strong points. Easyspace uses 5 data centers located in the UK to ensure this reliability. It also prides itself on handling all customer issues directly with no third party in the middle. The company is staffed with knowledgeable and experienced employees who give their best to their customers, no matter how difficult the problem.

Features and Plans

Web Hosting – Easyspace’s webhosting is UK-based with its 5 data centers. You can use Linux or Windows for your operating system. There are four plans:

Pic’N'Mix Hosting – You get 20GB of Web space, a free domain name (all plans come with this), up to 200 email boxes, and full tech support. This is the cheapest plan at $3.53 per month.

Starter Hosting – For a dollar more, this plan gives you 500 MB of Web space, a guarantee of 100% uptime, 10 email boxes and free bandwidth.

StarterPlus Hosting – This one’s $6.26 and it’s quite a bit more than the regular Starter plan. You get 3 GB of space, 100 mailboxes and a MySQL database, along with all the benefits of the Starter plan.

Business Hosting – This is the most popular plan and it gives you the most. You get 6 GB of space, 200 email boxes, 7 MySQL databases, and all the benefits of the others. It’s $12.53 per month and you can pay monthly.

Email Hosting Packages

If you just want a reliable email hosting package, they offer these as well. There are three plans – EasyMail, Microsoft Exchange and Email Mail Filter. EasyMail is quite simple and basic with email tools, an email with your domain name, and 250 MB of space for your mailbox. Microsoft Exchange is integrated with Microsoft Outlook and also comes with MAPI mailboxes. It’s a more complex option. Email Mail Filter is designed with extra protection against spams and viruses.

Web Design

Easyspace offers a full range of web design services. They can work on your existing site or create whole new websites for you. The company is staffed with experienced developers who specialize in web design. On the Easyspace website, you can look at their portfolio and get an idea of the kind of work they do.

Dedicated Servers

If you want complete control over your websites, Easyspace offers dedicated servers. All packages come with a 10 gig network, unlimited bandwidth, your choice of control panels, SLA, and extended support. The Starter package is $86.26 and comes with a 2.2GHz dual core, 1 GB of RAM, Plesk or cPanel, and guaranteed 100% uptime. There are also Business and Professional packages, as well as a Budget Server package that offers a limited version for $40 per month.

Virtual Server Packages

There is also a wide range of VPS packages available. They let you customize your virtual infrastructure to meet your needs. The most popular package, their Custom Cloud plan, is only $15.67 per month. They also offer a Standard Cloud VPS and Metatrader Cloud VPS.

Customer Feedback

I felt like no review is complete without some actual customer feedback, so I spent some time researching on review sites and here are some of the things that I found.

Pros:

Customization Options. Lots of reviews said that this company was great for customizing a website. They really work with you to custom-tailor the site to your needs. A few reviews I read said that even when there were some ‘teething issues’ at first, the company responded quickly and fixed them.

Customer Service. While their customer service seems to get mixed reviews, most of what I read was positive. Reviewers said that the company responded quickly to problems and that the staff knew what they were talking about.

Improvements. The control panel and support services are constantly being improved so that they’re more user-friendly.

Cons:

Strange Charges and Billing. Quite a number of the reviews I read said that there were hidden fees or something strange about their billing. One review said that the charge was as advertised, but when they renewed the price went up. The company supposedly said that this was because the starter price is a reduced price.

Auto Renew. The company will automatically renew your plan without even sending you an email. You can’t change the settings on your own user control panel. You have to let them know in advance if you’ll be canceling or changing your service.

How Easyspace Compares With Certified Hosting

Certified Hosting is one of Easyspace’s main competitors. Since both offer similar packages in about the same price range, I thought I would compare the two webhosting services.

First of all, Easyspace has creative names for its webhosting packages, but nothing like Certified Hosting. Its plans are called Dork, Geek and Nerd. Dork is the cheapest and simplest plan and it costs about the same as Easyspace’s Pic’N'Mix Hosting plan. The Geek plan is on par with the StarterPlus package of Easyspace, Nerd is about the same in price as Business hosting.

The main advantage of Certified Hosting is that it has basically unlimited everything. The Dork and Geek plans both have unlimited disk space and bandwidth, while the Nerd package also comes with unlimited domains. This is a great deal when you consider that the price is around the same as Easyspace’s packages.

Easyspace offers a simple, more stripped down service. Certified Hosting doesn’t have anything like Easyspace’s email hosting and as far as I can tell, Easyspace doesn’t have a reseller hosting.

With their dedicated server plans, Easyspace offers a few cheaper options. Their Starter plan is $86.21 per month compared to the cheapest plan offered by Certified Hosting, which is $99 per month. Easyspace also offers its Budget Servers hosting plan, which is just $40 a month. This plan doesn’t come with much in the way of features (although it does have unlimited bandwidth), but I’ve never seen dedicated server hosting for as little as $40 anywhere else before.

Comparing the pricier dedicated server packages, Certified Hosting definitely offers more in terms of storage space and management tools that come included in the package. They both offer ways for you to customize your server however you’d like to.

One difference that I noticed is that although Certified Hosting offers web design tools, I don’t think that they have a web design service like Easyspace does. Certified Hosting’s web design tools include a library of templates, but Easyspace offers it as a custom service. Easyspace’s web design service includes Facebook design for customizing your business’s Facebook fan page. On their web design services page it also says that they do mobile website design.

Overall, both services offer many of the same features. I’d say that if you’re looking for a simpler plan, Easyspace offers theirs for slightly less per month. If you want something more complicated and you really need unlimited disk space and bandwidth, Certified Hosting may be worth paying a little bit extra for.
