What’s New on System Mechanic 10.8
If you’re a fan of Iolo’s System Mechanic, you’ll be happy to hear that the newest version has all kinds of new features for you to enjoy. System Mechanic is just what the doctor ordered if your computer creeps along at the pace of a turtle on painkillers. When your computer starts slowly, freezes, locks up, runs slowly, gives you funny error messages, or just won’t do what you tell it, this means you’ve got corrupted data or other problems. SSD Accelerator
SSD stands for ‘solid state drives.’ These are faster than regular hard disk drives, but they can slow down in just the same way. Simple everyday use will slow them down significantly and SSD Accelerator is designed to prevent that.
It essentially does the same thing all of System Mechanics drive optimization tools do. It finds unnecessary data, data that’s spread out all over the drive, and corrupted files that aren’t doing you a bit of good, and cleans them up.
Program Accelerator
When you get updates, you end up with misaligned files all over your hard drive. These are the leftovers that you don’t need any more and unfortunately the update doesn’t deal with them. This will be even worse if you use disk defragmenters, which randomly pack unrelated files together.
Program Accelerator is like a defrag program on crack. It puts the files back together and gets rid of what you don’t need. By realigning files, it makes all of your programs run faster. This is a patented technology that only Iolo has.
CRUDD Remover
Just like the crud you might find in the depths of your home’s piping, CRUDD (Commonly Redundant or Unnecessary Decelerators and Destabilizers) builds up in your computer’s system. This basically refers to all the files that came with your computer but you’ve never once used them. And guess what – they slow everything down.
CRUDD Remover finds and classifies files. Then, it lets you know that it wants to remove these files so that you can have the final say-so.
Whole Home Licensing
The old versions of System Mechanic gave you a certain number of PCs per license. Whole Home Licensing means that you get one license for all of your household’s computers. It’s a much easier solution for families that have multiple machines.
Internet Connection Repair
This is a really cool new feature that helps prevent one of the most frustrating problems – when you’re online and you get suddenly disconnected. It monitors your connection and detects problems before they cut you off. It also maintains your connection so that it’s as quick and reliable as possible.
